Creating great communications is FUN – and making a difference in the world is even FUNNER. (Yes, “funner” is a word now. Ask Merriam-Webster.)

I feel lucky to do what I do. I spend my days working with clients who are changing the world. What could be better?

Besides, I’m a word nerd. I like stories about misplaced apostrophes as much as P. G. Wodehouse novels. So for me, reading and writing all day is the next-best thing to a Hawaiian vacation in February. (Well, not exactly. But you get the idea.)

I launched Lauren Ford Communications in 2001 so that I could work with socially responsible organizations in collaborative and creative ways. Previously I had served as associate vice president at Lipman Hearne, Inc. There I conceptualized and executed integrated marketing and communications programs for educational, medical, cultural, and other not-for-profit groups. I also served as the managing editor of Bryant Business, a national alumni magazine.

Over the years, I’ve worn a lot of hats. My gigs have included journalism, ghostwriting, academic writing, and technical writing. I’ve worked in the editorial offices of the University of Chicago Press, written for a college public affairs office, authored instructional materials for doctors and patients, and served as the managing editor of a medical trade magazine where I won a Neal Award from the American Business Press.
I earned a master's degree from the University of Chicago and a bachelor's from Connecticut College. I’ve picked up gold, silver, and bronze medals from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the Admissions Marketing Report. I earned an Award of Excellence from the Religion Communicators Council. And I was proud to receive a Sesquicentennial Medal for my work with North Central College.

Perhaps most importantly, I can order a beer in five languages. Nevertheless, I’ve never missed a client's deadline.
